Cetus GPS - Compatible Software List

Here is a list of 3rd party applications which have succesfully imported or exported Cetus GPS Position databases or Track files. Some of the applications require that you export the Cetus GPS Track file into a different format via Cetus TrackLog or GPS TrackData.

3D Tracer (Windows)
Imports an IGC track and visualizes it in an OpenGL window.

  1. Use Cetus TrackLog or GPS TrackData to export a track to an IGC file.
  2. In 3DTracer select the menu item File -> Load Track.
  3. Select the IGC track file you created.

CacheMate (Palm OS)
CacheMate is a database application for tracking GPS cache hunts. A plug-in is available which exports cache waypoints to Cetus GPS.

Cetus GPS Track Analyzer (WWW)
Laurent has written a WWW application that takes a Cetus GPS Track.pdb file and presents speed and altitude graphs along with the track details.

CetPExt (DOS/Windows)
A freeware command line application that convert a Cetus GPS position database to various text based formats. The source code is included.

ct2ovl (Windows)
Converts Cetus GPS Tracks to Top 50 Overlay files. The application is in German only.

Excel (Windows, Mac OS, Mac OS X)
Excel is a spreadsheet application from the Microsoft Office suite. Some countries and hence some installations of Excel use a comma as the decimal delimiter, therefore the numbers are not correctly imported. You may need to change this in the Excel settings.

  1. Use Cetus TrackLog or GPS TrackData with the default options to create a Track text file.
  2. In Excel select the menu item File -> Open.
  3. Select the track text file you created.
  4. Press the Finish button when the import dialog appears.

Geocaching .loc to Cetus GPS converter (WWW)
Ron Parker has developed a WWW application that converts .loc files from Geocaching.org to a Cetus GPS Position database.

GPS Babel (Windows, Mac OS X, Unix)
A freeware command line utility that reads and writes GPS waypoints in a variety of formats including:

  • U.S. Census bureau Tiger Mapping Service
It works with Windows and many unix variants such as Linux, UnixWare, OpenServer, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X. The source code is available at the GPS Babel homepage.

GPS Track Plotter (Windows 95/98)
A free utility for plotting tracks or speed versus time. Use the PalmReader application to convert a Cetus Track into a format readable by GPS Track Plotter.

GPS Visualizer (WWW)
Adam Schneider has written a WWW based GPS track plotter that accepts one or more Cetus GPS Track files, Position databases and GPX files and plot the tracks and positions onto a map. The plotter is highly configurable and it has many great features.

GPSy (Mac OS, Mac OS X)
GPSy is able to replay previously recorded NMEA data. It accepts scanned map images so you can use it for showing tracks on a map.

  1. Use Cetus TrackLog for Mac OS to create a Track.rmc file.
  2. In GPSy select the menu item File -> Start NMEA Playback.

OakGPS Suite (Windows)
The OakGPS suite enables you to analyze your vehicle's performance and behaviour in a large variety of situations. OakCalc and Trackview include native support for the Cetus GPS Track file format.

OziExplorer (Windows)
OziExplorer is a general GPS mapping application. Use the PalmReader utility to convert a Cetus GPS Track to an OziExplorer track plot file. You may also use Cetus TrackLog or GPS TrackData to create an IGC format file. GPS Babel is able to export Cetus Position databases to OziExplorer format.

ReadGPL (Windows, Unix)
Converts Cetus GPS Tracks to the DeLorme GPL File Format used by DeLorme Map'n'Go 3.0 and Street Atlas 4.0. It is free for personal and educational use and the source code is included.

SeeYou (Windows)
Soaring flight analysis utility that imports Cetus GPS Tracks via the IGC format.

  1. Use Cetus TrackLog or GPS TrackData to create an IGC Track file.
  2. In SeeYou select the menu item File -> Open.
  3. Select the IGC track file you created.

Topografix GPS suite (Windows)
The Topografix applications (EasyGPS, ExpertGPS and PanTerra) implement general mapping and waypoint features. They support the generic GPS eXchange format (GPX) and is hence fully compatible with Cetus GPS.

TrackAlyzer (Windows)
A soaring flight analysis application that imports Cetus GPS Tracks via the IGC format. It is available in danish only.

  1. Use Cetus TrackLog or GPS TrackData to create an IGC file.
  2. In TrackAlyser select the menu item Funktioner -> Indlæs GPS-fil.
  3. Select the IGC track file you created.

WinIGC to POV (Windows)
Converts IGC data for the POV-Ray 3D rendering application.

  1. Use Cetus TrackLog or GPS TrackData to create an IGC file.
  2. In WinIGC to POV press the Add Flight button.
  3. Select the IGC track file you created.
  4. Press the Convert button.

Wissenbach Map3D (Windows)
This free program allows you to plan and record your hiking and mountain bike trips and share your local knowledge of trails with others. Map3D supports the generic GPS eXchange format (GPX) and is hence fully compatible with Cetus GPS.
